Ignite Soccer Club

Our Commitment to a Safe Soccer Environment

A Circle of Safety for Everyone

At Ignite Soccer, the well-being of our players, coaches, and families is our highest priority. This guide visualizes our comprehensive safety policy, built on the principles of respect, protection, and proactive care, ensuring a secure and positive experience for all participants.

The Foundation: Our Codes of Conduct

🤝 General Conduct

All members must act with integrity, respect officials and opponents, and promote a positive, inclusive atmosphere at all times.

  • Act with fairness and respect.
  • Refrain from harassment or discrimination.
  • Cheer for all players and avoid negative comments.

🛡️ Protecting Children

Clear boundaries are essential. All interactions between adults and children must be professional, transparent, and focused on player well-being.

  • No one-on-one situations; the Rule of Two is mandatory.
  • No inappropriate jokes, games, or private gifts.
  • Serve as a positive, professional role model.

Three Pillars of Responsible Coaching

The Rule of Two

👤+👤+⚽

At least two screened adults must always be present with players. This is mandatory for all practices, games, travel, and meetings to ensure a safe and observable environment.

Screening Renewal Cycle

All personnel must complete a Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check, renewed every 3 years to maintain their eligibility.

Mandatory Training

Our coaches are equipped with essential knowledge in ethics, safety, and respect through required certifications.

On-Field Safety: Health & Wellness

Concussion Protocol: If in Doubt, Sit Them Out.

Player health is non-negotiable. We follow a strict, five-step protocol for all suspected concussions to ensure safe assessment, recovery, and return to play.

1. Recognize

Learn the signs & symptoms.

2. Remove

Immediately remove player from play.

3. Refer

See a medical doctor for assessment.

4. Recover

Follow a gradual, medically-supervised recovery plan.

5. Return

Only with a signed medical clearance letter.

Creating Safe Environments

Pre-Game Safety Checks

Before every session, our coaches conduct a thorough inspection to ensure the playing environment is free from hazards.

  • Field surfaces checked for holes and debris.
  • Goalposts physically checked and anchored securely.
  • Player equipment reviewed for safety (no jewelry, safe casts).

Severe Weather Policy

30

Minute Rule

When thunder roars, go indoors! Activities are suspended immediately if thunder or lightning is present and resume only after 30 minutes of clear skies.

Off-Field Conduct & Club Operations

Anti-Bullying

A zero-tolerance policy for bullying of any kind. All reports are investigated to provide a supportive and respectful team culture.

Change Room

Privacy is key. Supervision follows the Rule of Two, and the use of any recording device is strictly prohibited.

Travel

All safety rules apply on the road. This includes curfews, the Rule of Two, and a buddy system (groups of 3+) for players.

Communication

All electronic communication must be professional and include a parent or another official. No private one-on-one messages.

See Something? Say Something.

Every member has a duty to report concerns. Reporting is confidential and essential to maintaining our safe environment. We have a formal process to ensure all issues are handled fairly and effectively.

1. Submit written report to Safety Officer
2. Impartial investigation is conducted
3. Disciplinary decision is made
4. Action is taken (e.g., education, suspension)
